UPDATE: Armed Robbery at Iowa State Bank in Sheldon

Sheldon Robbery Suspect

Officers from several northwest Iowa law enforcement agencies are conducting a manhunt at this hour, searching for a subject who robbed the Iowa State Bank in Sheldon at gunpoint at mid-day today.


The suspect is described as a black male standing 6-feet 2-inches tall, wearing red glasses, a black mask, white gloves and black and grey pants. The robber reportedly made off with a sum of cash in two light tan colored canvas bags.


Authorities think the suspect may have left the bank on foot, prompting a large-scale manhunt spreading out from the bank.


If you think you know who this suspect is, or if you see someone matching the suspect’s description, you’re asked to call 911. Authorities caution you to NOT approach the suspect, as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.


Witnesses say that officers are going door to door at downtown businesses searching for the suspect, and word has been received that Children’s World is on lockdown due to the situation.
