IA State Auditor Rob Sand Visits Sioux Center
June 02, 2021 10:43am
Iowa State Auditor, Rob Sand, stopped in Sioux Center Wednesday morning, the first of many town-hall meetings to be held in the region.
Sand congratulated Sioux County for their participation in the PIE (Public Innovation & Efficiencies) program, stating the county does a great job with cost savings initiatives and innovations. He says a checklist serves as a framework to help State and local governments increase efficiency and communicate with the public about their efforts. Items on the checklist include energy efficiencies such as lighting, paper consumption, heating & cooling; best practice efficiencies, and operational efficiencies.
Sand promoted solar power as an important PIE innovation for public organizations such as schools and city governments to consider. He states that as entities construct solar energy for their locations, his office is showing an average energy savings of $750,000 for each installation.
Sand invites people to share their own PIE successes - and recipes, ideas for innovation to be submitted on the state auditor’s website to share throughout the state. As a reward for entities showing success using PIE innovations, Sand says he will deliver to them – a pie.
