Two Separate Semi Accidents on Highway 60

On Tuesday, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated two separate accidents involving semi-trucks on Highway 60.
The first semi accident was called in at 11:43 a.m. on Highway 60, four miles south of Alton.
40-year-old Husein Mohamud of Bloomington, MN was driving northbound on Highway 60 in a 2018 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a freight trailer when he lost control of the vehicle; the truck and trailer jackknifed on the roadway.
No injuries were reported, but the Freightliner sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

The second semi accident occurred three miles south of Orange City. Authorities responded to the accident at 4:49pm.
26-year-old Carlos Rodriguez-Perez of Sioux City, was driving south on Highway 60 in a Freightliner semi pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with plastic barrels. Rodriguez-Perez lost control of the truck and entered the north ditch; the truck and trailer rolled onto its side.
No injuries were reported, but the Freightliner sustained approximately $40,000 in damage.
Rodriguez-Perez was cited for failure to maintain control.
