November 24, 2020 2:50pm
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident early Sunday morning that led to a disturbance. The accident occurred shortly after 2am, 10 miles southwest of Rock Valley.
25 year-old Tanner Douma, of Ireton, was driving east on 360th Street in a Ford pickup; he stopped for the traffic signal at the river bridge. That’s when 50 year-old William Liston, also of Ireton, also eastbound on 360th Street, struck Douma. A disturbance between drivers and occupants of the vehicles followed the accident. Liston left the area but was later located at his residence by the Hawarden Police Department.
No injuries were reported.
Douma’s Ford pickup sustained approximately $1,000 in damage. Liston’s Kia sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.
The accident and disturbance remains under investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
