Remsen St. Marys wins title

Cedar Falls Iowa — Remsen St Mary’s wrapped up a 12-0 season with a 48-0 win over Fremont Mills in the 8 Player Championship at the UNI Dome on Thursday. Quarterback Blaine Harpenau ran for a pair of 1st Quarter scores, on runs of 4 yards, and 1 yard. The Hawks extended their lead to 27-0 by halftime, as Harpenau threw a pair of Touchdown passes, a 5 yarder to William Ryan, and a 54 yard bomb to Damen Brownmiller. A pair of third quarter scores, a 2 yard Touchdown run by Levi Waldschmitt, and a 20 yard pass from Harpenau to Browniller, and a 25 yard TD run by Brenden Fisch in the 4th quarter added up to the 48-0 win.

Harpenau led the way with 222 yard of total offense and had a hand in 5 touchdowns.

The Hawks defense held Fremont Mills to just 119 yards of total offense. Jaxon Bunkers led the RSM defense with 10 tackles and two sacks. It was the first shutout in the 8-man title game since 2011 when Fremont-Mills beat Murray 81-0.

The Hawks finish unbeaten at 12–0 while Fremont Mills ends the year at 8-2. This was the third trip to the UNI-Dome for the Hawks in the past four seasons. It’s the second football title in the program’s history with RSM winning the title in 2004.\
