Two Separate Injury Accidents Friday

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated two injury accidents Friday. The first was on Highway 18, two miles west of Boyden early Friday morning.

22 year-old Fernanda Gonzalez, of Sheldon was driving westbound on Highway 18. As Gonzalez attempted to pass another westbound vehicle, she met an eastbound vehicle and drove into the south ditch to avoid striking it.

Gonzalez was transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.  Her Ford Fusion sustained approximately $4,000 in damage.  Gonzalez was cited or unsafe passing.

The second accident occurred Friday night on 430th Street, three miles northeast of Alton.

20 year-old Christopher Dekker, of Orange City was driving westbound on 430th Street when lost control of the vehicle, drove off the south side of a bridge and entered the Floyd River; his vehicle came to rest on its top.

Dekker was transported to Orange City Area Health System for treatment of his injuries.  His GMC Sierra sustained about $7,000 in damage.
