A ground-breaking ceremony took place this morning near the Sioux Center Health Senior Living complex.  Sioux Center Health began a campaign to meet the growing need for elder care.  The Growing Community Capital Campaign official began in 2019 with plans to add and expand services to their senior living campus including the addition of an Assisted Living Memory Care facility.  The medical clinic and specialty clinic will also benefit from the campaign with enhanced privacy and safety features and better access to care.

All told, 24 new apartments will be added to Assisted Living, 16 apartments will be added for memory care, and 32 rooms will be added to skilled nursing.  Nearly 100,000 square feet of added space will be constructed for all areas of the campus at an estimated cost of $33 million.

Sioux Center Mayor Dave Krahling addressed the small crowd by saying this community has one of the best health-care systems in the area, he says, "I'll put our community up against any community around, on quality of access to healthcare".

Groundbreaking was scheduled for July of this year, but was delayed due to the pandemic; construction is still slated to begin this year with completion desired in 2022.
