Raider Athletics Signs 7-Year Deal With Nike, BSN
October 09, 2020 7:59am
Northwestern College Vice President for Athletics Dr. Micah Parker announces a seven-year agreement with Raider Athletics and Nike and BSN Sports.
Says Dr.Parker, "This is an important step towards a unified brand and marketing of Red Raider athletics. It will benefit all programs and have a direct impact on our student athletes. I'm excited to have the bookstore involved as well. It's another step toward honoring Christ through excellence in athletics."
The agreement will support Raider athletics in achieving an important strategic goal of enhancing the Raider athletics brand by having a consistent visual identity. Consistent branding will be implemented with quality Nike team apparel for our student athletes along with BSN products for our facilities and programs. This new agreement also provides the athletic department with annual funding to continue to improve our programs.
Dr. Parker headed a committee of six coaches, senior women's administrator Allison Cahill and Northwestern Bookstore director Josh Zylstra. Four athletic supply companies provided bids and were considered by the committee; Nike / BSN was the unanimous choice among the group.
"For our athletic department and teams to wear a common brand such as Nike, makes an appropriate first impression that we are a unified group of athletes, support staff, coaches and campus of Raiders," commented Chris Yaw, Head Women's Basketball coach. "BSN has significant experience in all-school agreements and will allow each of our programs access to general sport product and the bold Nike brand. The single-brand look is a classy look that will positively influence recruiting in each of our sports while also adding to the efficiency of our athletic department."
