Northwestern players sweep weekly GPAC volleyball honors

Northwestern’s Anna Wedel is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Wedel, a senior, from Maurice, Iowa, averaged 5.7 kills per set in leading Northwestern to a 2-0 record last week. Wedel hit .383 and put down 20 kills in both matches, wins over Dakota Wesleyan and Morningside. She also totaled 28 digs, averaging four per set. Wedel had a double-double in each match and also served two aces to go with five blocks.

Lacey Reitz of Northwestern is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Reitz, a senior from Jackson, Minnesota, averaged 14.1 assists per set in wins over Dakota Wesleyan (3-1) and Morningside (3-0). She directed a Raider offense that hit .317 in the two matches. Reitz averaged 4.0 digs per set, recording a double-double in each match.

Emily Strasser of Northwestern is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Strasser, a junior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, anchored the Northwestern backrow play in leading Northwestern to a 2-0 record. The libero averaged 5.1 digs per set, totaling 36 digs in wins over Dakota Wesleyan and Morningside. Strasser went a perfect 19-for-19 in serve receive and also served one ace.
