Dordt University issues spectator guidelines for Saturday, September 5

Dordt University has released its spectator guidelines for Saturday, September 5.

“This is our launching point,” said Ross Douma, Dordt Athletic Director. “This is day we’ve been looking forward to for five months. We realize it is going to look different and we will work and make adjustments as we move forward. Our priority remains providing the best possible experience for our student-athletes.”

The Defenders will be hosting a pair of cross country races beginning at 10:00 AM at the on-campus course near the soccer complex and a volleyball quadrangular in the DeWitt Gym starting at 11:00.

Spectator guidelines for the cross country races:

All spectators are required to wear a face covering and maintain six feet of physical distance from non-family members.

Fans will not be allowed in the bubble marked off around the finish line to allow more space for athletes to distance and to allow officials adequate space to distance. Athletes will move from the finish line to the camp area or back to the course to cheer teammates.

Spectator guidelines for volleyball matches:

Fans may arrive beginning 15 minutes before the match is to begin.

All spectators will have temperature checked prior to admittance.

All spectators will enter through the lobby west of the gym.

Dordt student seating will be limited to 75 students with tickets distributed by Dordt volleyball players.

Visiting teams will be allotted space for 50 individuals for the matches they are competing in.

Dordt fans will be limited to four tickets per Dordt volleyball player—no ticket, no entry for this event.

Seating configuration for the day:

When Dordt is playing (1:30 pm and 6:30 pm)

Dordt parents will sit on the west bleachers

Dordt students will sit on the east bleachers

Peru State and University of Northwestern guests will sit in the balcony

Peru State vs. Northwestern College 11:00 AM

Northwestern College will sit on west bleachers

Peru State will sit on east bleachers

University of Northwestern vs. Northwestern College 4:00 PM

Northwestern College will sit on west bleachers

University of Northwestern will sit on the east bleachers

The DeWitt Gym will be cleared at the conclusion of each match with re-entry 15 minutes before the next match is to begin.

Fans of teams not involved in a current match will not be in the gym.

Concessions will not be available. Water filling stations will be available in the lobby west of the gym.
