All involved probably guessed it was coming, but the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially postponed this fall's football championship series. The NAIA Council of Presidents voted today (Friday) to have football join the rest of the Association's fall athletic offerings in delaying championships to the Spring of 2021. The vote to move volleyball, soccer and cross country championships to next spring came on Tuesday, but at that time the Council announced it would meet again today, citing the need for more feedback before making a decision on football.

Dordt University and Northwestern College are both members of the NAIA's Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). The GPAC released a statement last week (July 21) stating the conference planned to move forward with its plans of competing this fall. Commissioner Corey Westra said today (Friday) further clarifications on the conference's fall sports plan will likely be coming next week.
