Iowa DOT Worker Killed Near Boyden Construction Area

An Iowa Department of Transportation employee has been killed after a fatal vehicle accident in Sioux County.
The Sioux County Sheriff's Office says at about 9 a.m. Tuesday they investigated a fatal accident on Highway 18, just 1.5 miles west of Boyden.
The sheriff's office says 94-year-old William Plantage of Sheldon Iowa was driving westbound on Highway 18 in an SUV when he struck an Iowa DOT employee standing in the westbound lane.
The employee, identified as 64-year-old Lynn Roder of Ashton, Iowa, was standing with a traffic sign signaling for westbound traffic to stop or slow down for a road construction area.
Authorities say Roder was transported to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
