Two Injured In Weekend Accident Near Alton

Two people were injured in a Saturday evening accident at an intersection of Highway 60 near Alton. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident which occurred at 5:55 Saturday evening at the intersection of Highway 60 and Kingbird Avenue, one mile north of Alton, IA.
34 year-old Erick Beltran of Sioux Center was driving southbound on Kingbird Ave. in a Honda Civic. 51 year-old Derik Lampe of Le Mars was westbound on Highway 60, driving a Chrysler Sebring. Beltran failed to yield from a stop sign, entered the intersection and the two vehicles struck.
Two passengers in the Honda were transported to the Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Honda sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. The Chrysler sustained an estimated $12,000 in damage.
Beltran was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance and the Orange City Police Department.
