Dordt University has announced they will extend online instruction to the end of the spring semester. The Dordt leadership team made the decision that they will not resume on-campus instruction on Monday, April 13, as previously communicated.

Dordt officials say they came to the decision after careful consideration of many factors. For example, over the last week, COVID-19 cases have increased nationwide and in the state of Iowa. It was also determined that many Dordt students would not be able to readily return to campus, as they would need to self-quarantine for 14 days upon their return. They say its likely more than one-third of the student body could not return to campus due to distance or expense.

Dordt University will host commencement at Friday, May 8 at 11am. It is anticipated this will be a virtual experience, and we will provide additional information in the coming weeks. The academic calendar as previously scheduled through the end of the academic year will continue to be followed. All other spring semester events are postponed or canceled.

Dordts campus is closed to the community, and only current employees and permitted students are allowed on Dordts campus. Please call ahead at (712) 722-6000 if you need to connect with a department. Office staff will continue to provide services to students and constituents, whether remotely or in-person.

Information about summer events will be forthcoming. At this point, we still plan to hold Dordt Discovery Days, which is scheduled for late June.
