Little new information is available about a police chase in Sioux Center that ended with a man crashing into a house Wednesday morning. The chase started off as fender bender, but the suspect fled the scene. The Sioux Center Police say the chase started in downtown Sioux Center and continued to when the driver lost control and crashed into a house near 9th St. and 2nd Ave. SW. The Sioux County Sheriffs office requested tests to determine if drugs and alcohol were involved, those results have not been made public. The resident of the house was inside the home at the time of the crash, but escaped without injuries.

The identity of the driver is still unknown. Sioux Center Police Chief, Mike Halma says the individual was taken to the hospital, then transferred to Avera Health in Sioux Falls for treatment of injuries apparently sustained in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Damage to the house is substantial, and estimate is not available, the vehicle was totaled.

Halma also says, the help the homeowner received after the accident was tremendous, stating it was typical Sioux Center.
