Jalyn Gramstad (Lester, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College next fall.

Gramstad is a 6'0", 185-pound quarterback and safety who recently completed an outstanding three-year career playing for the West Lyon High School football team. Gramstad accounted for 2400 yards and 30 touchdowns in leading his team to the class 1A state championship last fall. He threw for over 1,500 yards and 19 scores while rushing for 908 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging over eight yards per carry. On defense, Gramstad ranked fourth on the team with 36.5 tackles and ranked second in class 1A with six interceptions.

"Jalyn is an outstanding young man and a gifted athlete," said Northwestern Head Coach Matt McCarty. "He is tough, competitive and understands how to win. Jalyn played a huge role in leading West Lyon to the state championship last fall and has earned all-conference honors in four sports. We are excited to have Jalyn join our Red Raider football team and the Northwestern campus."

Gramstad earned first team all-state, all-district and all-Northwest Iowa recognition last fall and was a second team all-district choice as a junior. Also an all-conference pick in basketball, baseball and golf, Gramstad is a member of the National Honor Society and was named first team academic all-state in football. He plans to major in Business at Northwestern and is the son of Kjert and Michelle.
