In other council news, New Homestead Executive Director, Crystallyn Sterler presented her annual report highlighting the New Homestead’s high-performance status with HUD.  The New Homestead remains at capacity with their apartments and homes.  Sterler stated concerns over upcoming qualification requirement changes HUD is making, which could affect some residents.

The city council approved a resolution of support for the Southeast Bike Trail extension, which assists in the application for an Iowa Transportation Alternatives Program or TAP Grant.  The letter of support serves as a required commitment from the city, providing approval, written assurance that the city will maintain the trail, and a financial commitment.  The Southeast Bike Trail extension runs from the Sioux Center Health and Woodbridge area south to 20th Street SE, then west to Highway 75.  The estimated cost for the extension is $1.1 million.

The city council reviewed the fiscal year 2024-25 Enterprise Fund Budget and set a public hearing date of March 27, the next city council meeting, for the fiscal 2024-25 Property Tax Levy.
