TOP RANKED WESTERN CHRISTIAN AND 13th RANKED LAWTON-BRONSON BATTLED BACK AND FORTH ALL NIGHT FOR A TRIP TO THE GIRLS STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. TRAILING 56-52 EARLY IN THE 4th QUARTER, WESTERN CHRISTIAN USED A 16-2 RUN, WHICH INCLUDED A PAIR OF THREE-POINTERS BY PAYTON HARMSEN, TO GIVE THE WOLFPACK A LEAD THEY WOULD NOT RELINQUISH, AND SEND THEM TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT FOR THE FIFTH STRAIGHT YEAR. WESTERN HAD FOUR PLAYERS IN DOUBLE FIGURES, ASHTYN VEERBEEK HAD A TEAM HIGH 22 POINTS, INCLUDING 10 IN THE FOURTH QUARTER, PAYTON HARMSEN SCORED 15, ERICA BOUSEMA, AND KAIRA MOSS EACH ADDED 13. WESTERN CHRISTIAN IMPROVES TO 22-2 HEADING INTO THE STATE TOURNAMENT. WESTERN BEGINS PLAY AT STATE ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 29 AT 5pm AGAINST CENTRAL DECATUR.
