THE UNITY CHRISTIAN GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WILL GET A CHANCE TO DEFEND THEIR STATE TITLE. THE KNIGHTS MOVED ON THE STATE TOURNAMENT FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR WITH A 51-44 WIN OVER TREYNOR. UNITY LED 31-10 AT HALFTIME, THEN HAD TO HANG ON AS TREYNOR BATTLED TO WITHIN FOUR POINTS WITH LESS THAN TWO MINUTES REMAINING. UNITY HELD ON FOR THE WIN, AND THE TRIP TO WELLS FARGO ARENA. CHANDA ZOMERMAAND, LED THE KNIGHTS WITH 18 POINTS AND DISHED OUT 4 ASSISTS, ANNA KIEL SCORED 8 POINTS, GRABBED 12 REBOUNDS, AND HAD 4 STEALS. UNITY CHRISTIAN IMPROVED TO 22-1. UNITY WILL FACE WEST BRANCH IN THE OPENING ROUND OF THE CLASS 2A STATE TOURNAMENT ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 29th AT 8:30pm.
