Dordt College Football adds 15 Recruits
February 04, 2016
Dordt College football coach Joel Penner has announced his initial group of recruits for the 2016 season. The group of 15 includes athletes from seven states and six Iowans.
“We are thrilled to announce a significant portion of our 2016 recruiting class is already signed,” said Dordt College football coach Joel Penner. “While there are still more recruits to go, the group that we are announcing today contains strong additions to Dordt College and our football team. Getting a late start on recruiting this year due to the coaching transition hasn’t seemed to hinder us all that much. Particularly noteworthy in this group of signees is the strong local presence that is represented in Taylor Miedema (Western Christian), Drake Granstra (Western Christian), Levi Schoonhoven (Unity Christian), Jake Dodge (Okoboji), and Luke DeSautel (Sioux Falls Christian). We believe that local recruits in increasing measure are seeing the upside of both a Dordt College degree and a Dordt College football experience. In addition to multiple standout recruits from out of state, Dordt football also has added three mid-year transfers to the roster. Our preliminary signing class is exactly the kind of start we were working towards and we believe this is an indication of the positive change we are expecting in the future.”
Penner was named Dordt College head football coach on December 15.
