3 injured in O’Brien County accident

THREE PEOPLE WERE INJURED TUESDAY IN A TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION IN O’BRIEN COUNTY. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS VEHICLES DRIVEN BY 89-YEAR-OLD GLENN SALMON OF SHELDON AND 53-YEAR-OLD SANDRA PEDRO OF SHELDON WERE BOTH EASTBOUND ON HIGHWAY 18 ABOUT 2 MILES EAST OF SHELDON, AT THE INTERSECTION WITH COUNTY ROAD L-36. AUTHORITIES SAY PEDRO HAD SLOWED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ONTO THE COUNTY ROAD WHEN SALMON COLLIDED WITH THE REAR OF HER VEHICLE. DEPUTIES SAY PEDRO HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM HER VEHICLE.

BOTH DRIVERS AND A PASSENGER IN THE ONE DRIVEN BY GLENN SALMON, 89-YEAR-OLD PRISCILLA SALMON, WERE ALL TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO SANFORD HOSPITAL IN SHELDON. ALL THREE WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED.

$8,000 IN DAMAGE WAS ESTIMATED TO A 2005 FORD EXPLORER DRIVEN BY PEDRO; DAMAGE TO A 2005 BUICK LESABRE DRIVEN BY GLENN SALMON WAS ESTIMATED AT $12,000. HE WAS CITED FOR FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY. THE COLLISION TOOK PLACE SHORTLY BEFORE 5:00 P.M.
