Salazar Head to Northwestern

Eric Salazar of Rock Valley has signed a letter of intent to continue his football and baseball careers at Northwestern College.
Salazar is a 60, 190-pound utility player who played three years for the Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley football team. Salazar totaled 28 tackles and one interception at linebacker to earn all-district honors last fall. He also was an all-district kicker, converting 27-of-35 point after attempts and recorded four touchbacks while averaging over 40 yards per kickoff attempt.
Salazar is already a four-year letter winner for the Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley baseball team heading into his final season this summer. Salazar went unbeaten on the mound last summer, posting a 7-0 record with a 1.99 earned run average in 11 appearances. He totaled 77 strikeouts in 49.1 innings and earned first team all-state honors. Salazar also hit .444 with 18 extra-base hits and led his team in both runs (27) and RBIs (30). He is a two-time all-conference selection and earned all-district accolades as a junior.
