Northwestern College Athletic Director Earl Woudstra announced that Monte Tilgner has been named head coach of the Red Raider men's tennis program.

Tilgner takes over for Jonathan Sabo, who served in the same role for the 2018-19 season.

"We are excited to have Monte join the Red Raider coaching staff and leading our men's tennis program," commented Woudstra. "Monte brings several years of very successful coaching, a passion for impacting young people, and a desire to serve at Northwestern College. I look forward to seeing how Coach Tilgner will build the men's tennis team to a competitive level in the GPAC."

Tilgner comes to NWC with multiple years of coaching experience with most of them coming while being a teacher for 29 years. He coached girls golf (26 years), softball (10 years), and basketball (8 years) while at MOC-Floyd Valley in Orange City, Iowa and coached boys tennis while at Wayne High School in Wayne, Neb. He lead his girls golf team to 20 conference championships and 13 state qualifying teams. Tilgner also played tournament tennis in the 1990's.
