A pair of coaches have been added to the Northwestern College women's basketball coaching staff. Northwestern has announced the hiring of Morgan Ediger as a graduate assistant for the Red Raider women's basketball program. Ediger will begin her duties this summer.
Ediger is a 2019 graduate of Tabor College (Kan.), where she earned a degree in communications. A four-year letter winner for the BlueJays' women's basketball team, Ediger was named an NAIA All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American as a senior. She played on four teams that qualified for the national tournament, reaching the national quarterfinals as a freshman.
“We are excited about having Morgan join our coaching staff,” stated Northwestern Head Coach Chris Yaw. “She is a high-character, faith-driven and passionate young lady eager to have an impact on our players and basketball program. Morgan is a great communicator and will relate well with players, recruits, families and coaches on our staff and within our athletic department.”
Ediger has worked several basketball camps as both director and coach and served as an intern at Hillsboro High School in the athletic department. She was named a team captain of Multiply Basketball, a group that uses basketball games and camps to share the Gospel in both Thailand and the Philippines.
“Morgan is a highly competitive person who achieved great success as both a high school and collegiate player,” added Yaw. “Morgan’s energy and drive to coach is strong and so is her desire to have a lasting impact beyond basketball. We look forward to having Morgan’s positive and powerful influence of faith, character and basketball in our program.”
Northwestern also announced the hiring of Kacie O'Connor as a graduate assistant for the Red Raider women's basketball program. O'Connor will begin her duties this summer.
O'Connor is a 2018 graduate of Wayne State College (Neb.), where she was a member of the Wildcats' women's basketball program four years. She served as a team captain in both 2017 and 2018 and finished with a degree in K-12 health and physical education.
“Kacie has a driven personality that is matched by a strong competitive spirit,” commented Northwestern Head Coach Chris Yaw. “In addition, she comes from a family of, and a special understanding of, what it takes to serve athletes and coach at a successful level. Thus we are excited and look forward to having Kacie join our women’s basketball coaching staff.”
Most recently, O’Connor was a substitute teacher and assistant girls’ basketball coach for Sundance High School (Wyo.) during the 2018-19 academic year.
“We are excited to have her teach and guide our players as she draws upon her own successful playing experience and time spent growing up around coaching,” commented Yaw. “Her motivation to help make our players the best they can be is evident. Kacie’s passion to learn and commit to growing in the coaching profession is a huge plus for our players, coaching staff and athletic staff at Northwestern.”
