A pickup vs semi-truck accident sent a Rock Valley man to the hospital Tuesday. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at 9:34 Tuesday morning at the intersection of 360th Street and Elmwood Avenue, four miles south of Rock Valley.
28-year-old John Kooyenga of Rock Valley was driving southbound on Elmwood Avenue in a Ford Ranger – as he entered the intersection with 360th St., he was struck by a semi-tractor pulling a cargo trailer driven by 33-year-old Anatolii Rykhlo, of Antelope CA.
Kooyenga was transported by the Rock Valley Ambulance to Hegg Health Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The Semi-Truck sustained about $10,000 in damage; the Ford Ranger about $5,000 in damage.
Rykhlo was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
