Fire Destroys Farm Building Near Rock Valley

Fire destroyed a machine shed at a farm place eight miles west of Rock Valley Sunday night. The Rock Valley Fire Department responded to the call which came in at 7:42 Sunday evening. Fire officials arrived and found the machine shed fully engulfed by fire. Mutual assistance from other area fire departments was requested.
No injuries were reported with the incident, and no livestock were in the building. However, hay bales and dairy equipment kept in the shed are a total loss. Damages are estimated to be about $750,000.
The Rock Valley Fire Department was assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and fire Departments from the cities of Hull, Doon, Inwood, Sioux Center and Hudson, SD.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rock Valley Fire Chief.
