Semi vs Pickup Accident Sends One To Hospital

One person was sent to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Saturday.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says on October 26 an accident occurred at the intersection of 340th Street and Goldfinch Avenue, five miles southwest of Hull, Iowa.

The sheriff’s office says 62-year-old Kevin Sandbulte of Sioux Center, Iowa, was driving southbound on Goldfinch Avenue in a 1989 International semi-tractor, he was pulling a grain trailer. While 28-year-old Marcus Koenen of Rock Valley, Iowa, was driving eastbound on 340th Street in a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck.

According to the sheriff’s office, the two vehicles met and struck in the intersection.

The semi-tractor and trailer were not damaged. The pickup sustained approximately $6,000 in damages.

A passenger in the pickup was transported, by private vehicle, to Hegg Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Sandbulte, the driver of the semi-tractor, was cited for failing to yield to a vehicle on the right.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Ambulance and the Sioux Center Fire Department.
