Several arrests made in Lyon County

The Lyon County Sheriff's office made several arrests over the few days.

On Friday, October 11, 5:57 PM the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation in George. As a result of the investigation, 19 year old, Walker Hollenbeck, of George was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine 2nd offense. Walker also had arrest warrants out of O’Brien County, for interference with official acts and probation violation. 22 year old Riley Wichers, of Hospers, was also arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and introducing contraband into a correctional facility. Both were transported to the Lyon County Jail. Lyon County K9 Rizzo assisted in the case.

On Friday, October 11, at 10:13 PM the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in George. As a result of the investigation, 24 year old Jessica Chinn, of Hull was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and interference with official acts. Chinn was transported to the Lyon County Jail.

On Saturday, October 12, at 12:52 AM the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 75 and A34 for a speed violation. 28 year old David Burton Jr, of George was identified as a passenger in the vehicle. Burton was found to have a valid arrest warrant in Sioux County and was placed under arrest on the warrant. He was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and introducing a controlled substance into a correctional facility.

On Thursday, October 10, Lyon County Deputies responded to a report of an assault at 505 E. Minnesota Ave in George. 20 year old Devin Burgers of George was arrested for Domestic Assault 1st Offense, a simple misdemeanor. Burgers was transported to the Lyon County Jail.

On Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 1:23 AM the Lyon County Sheriff's Office arrested 49 year old Scott Hassel of Spirit Lake. Hassel was wanted out of Dickinson County for failing to appear for a plea hearing. Hassel was transported to the Lyon County Jail.
