Severe weather passed through northwest Iowa Saturday morning. Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued as a mass of storms passed from South Dakota into NW Iowa and SW Minnesota. Winds were the major factor with these storms, with gusts over 60mph in areas, Lake Park reporting a 63mph gust.
Reports of downed trees across the region were common, some blocking roadways; reports of limbs on power lines in and near Le Mars with one causing an electrical fire stretching Le Mars fire crews thin. A report of lost power in Ireton came in around 9:30. Power lines were reported down at the Sioux County Fairgrounds where livestock show times were changed because of the weather.
A semi-rollover accident was reported at the intersection of Hiway 3 and K-64 near Le Mars, however, emergency responders were delayed in providing assistance due to the severe weather.
