Fire crews are at the scene of a blaze that has enveloped a brand-new assisted living facility in Rock Valley.  The sprawling apartment complex called River View Ridge, was not yet open and nobody was living there yet, but it was set to open July 15.  Fire departments were dispatched to the scene at 6:10 Tuesday morning, and flames were knocked down by 9 0’clock, though several firefighters remain to monitor hot spots.  Firefighters confirm no one was hurt in the fire, and the cause is still unkown.

River View Ridge Senior Living board member Jim VanderVelde says construction crews were working until 8 p.m. Monday night.  The recently installed sprinkler system, was to be activated today (Tuesday).

River View Ridge Senior Living is a community-sponsored project years in the making. Construction on the 39-unit facility began a year and a half ago. VanderVelde said some residents had already sold their homes in anticipation of moving into the facility.
