Temps to vary across the Heartland; beneficial rains ahead for the central, southern Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures from the central and southern Plains to the northern and middle Atlantic States, including the Midwest, while warmer-than-normal weather will dominate the West and the Deep South. 

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across much of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in southern Florida and from the Pacific Northwest to the upper Midwest.
