A cold, dry pattern ahead for the Heartland; some moderation on the northern Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures nearly nationwide, with warmer-than-normal weather limited to Florida’s peninsula. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal precipitation across the northern half of the U.S., as well as California and the Great Basin, should contrast with wetter-than-normal conditions in much of the South.  Some of the wettest areas will include southern sections of the Rockies and Plains, the Gulf Coast States, and the southern Atlantic region.
